Le retrait de la Minusma, conformément à la demande des Autorités maliennes, entre dans sa phase active avec le transfert du camp d’Ogossagou, où était station le contingent sénégalais. Ce transfert a eu lieu, le jeudi dernier. 

La Minusma a remis aux FAMA le camp de cette localité (Ogossagou) situé dans la région de Mopti. Ce transfert marque ainsi le désengagement des casques bleus de cette zone qui a fait l’objet de plusieurs attaques ces dernières années.

La mission onusienne applique ainsi la décision prise fin juin 2023 par le Conseil de sécurité de l’ONU de mettre un terme immédiat à la mission déployée depuis 2013, à la demande de la junte arrivée au pouvoir par la force en 2020.

Le retrait des quelque 11 600 soldats et 1500 policiers de dizaines de nationalités présents début juin dans notre pays doit s’échelonner jusqu’au 31 décembre.

La Minusma, dont l’une des tâches consistait à protéger les civils, a installé là une base en 2020, après le massacre de 160 personnes (des civiles) en 2019 puis, à nouveau, d’une trentaine de civils un an plus tard.

La Minusma et les Autorités maliennes ont affirmé leur volonté de coopération pour un désengagement de la Minusma dans les meilleures conditions et dans le délai fixé.

Plus de 460 Casques bleus égyptiens, chargés notamment d’escorter les convois logistiques de la Minusma, ont par ailleurs quitté Gao le 28 juillet 2023, a indiqué la mission sur son site.

Le désengagement égyptien était prévu, comme celui de plusieurs autres pays, avant que Bamako ne demande le départ de la Minusma en juin.

« C’est néanmoins un pas de plus vers le retrait définitif du Mali », dit la Minusma. « Dans les jours qui suivent, des Casques bleus des contingents sénégalais, burkinabè, ivoiriens et bangladais quitteront le Mali avec la fermeture des camps périphériques d’Ogossagou, Goundam, Ber et Ménaka », précise-t-elle.
