L’expulsion de douze agents français par l’Algérie a ravivé une tension diplomatique aux relents historiques. Marquée par l’émotion et la réciprocité, cette crise souligne la fragilité des liens bilatéraux et le coût humain souvent ignoré des rapports d’État.
Les douze agents français expulsés par Alger le 13 avril dernier ont été décrits comme « très choqués » par le ministre de l’Intérieur Bruno Retailleau, qui s’est exprimé ce 23 avril sur BFMTV-RMC.
Cette séquence révèle la dimension humaine souvent occultée des tensions diplomatiques.
Reçus la veille à Paris en présence du ministre des Affaires étrangères Jean-Noël Barrot, ces agents étaient détachés auprès de l’ambassade de France en Algérie.
« Certains ont laissé leur famille, leurs enfants scolarisés, d’autres ont une épouse ou une compagne algérienne », a précisé Retailleau, soulignant l’impact personnel et humain de cette décision diplomatique jugée sans précédent depuis 1962.
En 1962, l’Algérie obtient son indépendance de la France après plus de sept ans de guerre, conclue par les Accords d’Évian signés le 18 mars. À la suite de cette rupture historique, la majorité des agents diplomatiques français ont quitté le territoire algérien. Les expulsions ont eu lieu en présence de l’ambassadeur de France à Alger, renforçant la portée symbolique de la mesure, qualifiée d’« injustifiée » par Jean-Noël Barrot.
En réaction, la France a procédé à l’expulsion de douze agents algériens, invoquant un geste de « stricte réciprocité » et une « mesure de protestation ».
Cette crispation diplomatique intervient alors que le cas de l’écrivain franco-algérien Boualem Sansal reste également en suspens. Condamné à cinq ans de prison fin mars, l’auteur est toujours détenu. « Il est toujours aussi malade, aussi âgé, et toujours dans les geôles algériennes », a déploré Retailleau, pointant l’absence d’avancée dans ce dossier.
