C’est le colonel Assimi Goïta, dirigeant du Mali, qui a été nommé président de l’Alliance des Etats du Sahel pour un mandat d’un an.
Dans son discours au sommet de Niamey, il a exprimé sa détermination à transformer l’AES en un modèle de coopération régionale, de solidarité et de développement.
