L’élection Présidentielle initialement prévue les 4 et 18 février 2024 est reportée sine die par les autorités. La société civile approuve la décision alors que des responsables de partis politiques dénoncent une « décision unilatérale ».
« Avant l’organisation des élections, il faut d’abord faire un diagnostic de l’état de la nation et installer des bases solides pour éviter les ruptures constitutionnelles » a déclaré Maye Niaré vice-présidente du réseau international des femmes leaders. Selon elle, il y a des préalables que le gouvernement doit assurer pour que cette élection majeure soit transparente crédible et inclusive. Ce qui est important pour elle au delà des élections « c’est de diagnostiquer tout le système et de le mettre sur les rails ». Maye Niaré estime que c’est après cela « qu’il faudra organiser les élections et non dans la précipitation pour gérer des crises après ».
Un avis non partagé par des partis politiques
Des partis politiques réunis au sein de la coalition « Appel du 20 février » ne sont pas favorables au report des futures élections. Pour Abdoulaye Traoré, Président du parti Rassemblement pour la Justice Sociale (RJS) les raisons évoquées par le gouvernement ne sont pas suffisantes pour reporter ce scrutin.
« Nous pensons que le gouvernement joue à une fuite en avant. Et nous pensons que le gouvernement ne crée pas les conditions pour un retour à l’ordre constitutionnel normal », martèle M.Traoré. « Nous prenons acte » dit-il avant d’ajouter que « si les élections ne sont pas organisées aux dates convenues, nous allons tirer toutes les conséquences par les voix de droit ».
A noter que les élections législatives et communales, initialement prévues à la fin de 2023 ne seront plus organisées par les autorités de transition. Elles feront l’objet d’un chronogramme qui sera établi par les nouvelles autorités, après l’élection du Président de la République a précisé le gouvernement.
