Le sprint final du Tour cycliste international du Togo a été disputé cet après-midi dimanche 9 juin 2024 à Lomé, dans la capitale togolaise, après un parcours d’une distance de 105 km.
C’est le capitaine des Aigles, Yaya Diallo, qui a enlevé cet ultime sprint devant son coéquipier Moussa Togola et le Burkinabè Mounea Bassirou. Cette victoire conforte l’emprise des Aigles cyclistes sur ce Tour depuis son démarrage le 3 juin dernier, date à partir de laquelle Yaya Diallo a enfilé le maillot jaune. Cette tunique jaune a été conservée lors de la 2ème édition par les Aigles. Cette fois-ci, elle a été gagnée par le champion du Mali en titre, Yacouba Diallo. Ce fut le début d’une lutte acharnée entre Maliens, Burkinabè, Togolais, Ghanéens, Ivoiriens, Béninois, Nigérians et Français pour le maillot le plus convoité du Tour. Les Aigles ont su tuer la concurrence pour reprendre le maillot jaune perdu lors de la 3ème étape. Le capitaine Yaya Diallo et ses coéquipiers ont dû puiser beaucoup dans leurs ressources pour déposséder le grand Nigéria du maillot jaune. Lors de cette ultime étape dans les rues de Lomé, les Aigles ont réussi le coup parfait : la victoire d’étape et la conservation du maillot jaune, au nez et à la barbe de notre grand voisin, le Burkina Faso, le pays le plus capé dans la discipline dans notre sous région.
Ainsi, le Mali gagne la 29ème édition du Tour cycliste international du Togo, avec le maillot jaune sur les épaules de Yacouba Diallo. Celui-ci devance deux Burkinabè au classement général final sur le podium : Harouna Ilboudo et Mounea Bassirou, avec respectivement, 8 secondes et 23 secondes. Yaya Diallo et Moussa Togola arrivent après respectivement 4ème et 5ème au classement général final. Les autres Aigles occupent les 16ème, 20ème et 21ème places par Sidiki Diarra, Dramane Kouma et Sitapha Koné.
Ce résultat vient conforter le président de la Fédération Malienne de Cyclisme, Sidy Bagayoko, qui avait sollicité à juste titre que le département puisse fournir des efforts supplémentaires pour augmenter les chances de participation de notre équipe aux compétitions internationales.
