UEMOA : le Mali remis dans ses droits

Les chefs d’Etat et de Gouvernement de l’Union économique et monétaire ouest-africaine (UEMOA) se sont réunis le 08 juillet 2023 en Guinée-Bissau. Au menu des travaux, l’évaluation de l’évolution récente des situations économiques et financières de l’espace et les perspectives. Dans la foulée, les chefs d’Etat et de Gouvernement ont décidé de lever les sanctions infligées au Mali depuis le 9 janvier 2022, à la suite du coup d’Etat du 18 août 2020.

En principe, la Conférence des chefs d’Etat de l’espace UEMOA se réunie une fois par an en session ordinaire. Cette fois-ci, c’est une session extraordinaire qui s’est tenue samedi en Guinée-Bissau. À l’issue de laquelle, l’Union économique et monétaire ouest-africaine (UEMOA), a annoncé la levée de la suspension du Mali de ses organes et institutions. Une sanction décidée en janvier 2022 pour minimiser l’intention du régime militaire de se maintenir au pouvoir encore plusieurs années.

En effet, l’UEMOA, dans son communiqué final, a pris cette décision pour alléger dit-on la souffrance des populations, mais aussi pour permettre au Mali de prendre activement part au marché sous-régional. « Concernant le Mali, la Conférence a décidé de la levée de sa suspension des organes et institutions de l’UEMOA prise le 9 janvier 2022 », a-t-elle annoncé, sans plus de détails.
