Le ministre marocain des Affaires étrangères, Nasser Bourita, a tenu vendredi à New York une réunion de coordination avec ses homologues burkinabè Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, malien Abdoulaye Diop, nigérien Bakary Yaou Sangaré et tchadien Abderaman Koulamallah. Cette réunion s’inscrit dans le cadre de l’opérationnalisation de l’initiative du Roi Mohammed VI visant à faciliter l’accès des pays du Sahel à l’océan Atlantique.
Lors de la 79ème Assemblée Générale des Nations Unies, les ministres ont salué le travail des Groupes de travail nationaux du Maroc, du Burkina Faso, du Mali, du Niger et du Tchad lors de leur première réunion tenue à Rabat en juin dernier. Les Groupes de travail ont examiné les projets proposés par le Maroc, qui s’alignent sur les plans nationaux de développement actuellement mis en œuvre dans chaque pays.
Les ministres ont exprimé leur satisfaction quant aux progrès réalisés dans la mise en œuvre de l’Initiative d’accès à l’Atlantique et ont convenu de se réunir prochainement pour faire progresser davantage sa mise en œuvre.
Le Roi a lancé l’Initiative d’accès à l’Atlantique dans son discours du 6 novembre 2023, commémorant le 48e anniversaire de la Marche verte.
