Lors de l’accueil des U17, sacré troisième de la Coupe du monde de leur catégorie, le Premier Ministre, sur les conseils de son ministre, a donné des informations erronées sur le palmarès des Aiglonnets. Selon Choguel Maiga, c’est la première fois qu’une équipe Afrique termine troisième à la plus haute compétition des moins de 17 ans. Seulement voilà : le Ghana a terminé troisième en 1999 en Nouvelle-Zélande et le Burkina en 2001 à Trinité et Tabago. Pire, le Mali a atteint la finale en 2015 au Chili, quand le même Choguel était membre du gouvernement Modibo Keita. Les Aiglonnets ont perdu la finale contre une autre équipe d’Afrique, les Super Aigles du Nigeria. Comme quoi, le Mali n’a même pas battu son propre record à plus forte raison celui de tout un continent. Nous avons pourtant essayé de savoir si toutefois c’est le ministre des sports qui a induit son Premier Ministre en erreur. Aucune explication n’a filtré, ce malgré insistance auprès du service de communication du ministre Fomba. En tout cas, la présence du chef du Gouvernement semble se justifier tout simplement par le fait qu’il était convaincu d’une performance assez exceptionnelle pour mériter un accueil de U17 par les plus hautes autorités. Quand le ministre des Sports m’a informé que notre équipe doit arriver et qu’on doit l’accueillir, je lui ai répondu : monsieur le ministre, vous voulez aussi accueillir en grande pompe le troisième ? C’est bien mais moi j’aurai voulu qu’ils soient premiers. Et le ministre a répliqué et marqué des points il m’a dit que c’est la première fois en Afrique. J’ai dit donc ils sont premiers ». Seulement voilà, tout comme Choguel, on peut sans nul doute affirmer que le ministre des Sports est loin d’être un fan du football. En tout état de cause, même le dernier des supporteurs des Aiglonnets sait qu’ils ont atteint la finale et qu’ils l’ont perdue de justesse contre le Nigeria.
