Après l’Angélus, dimanche 1er septembre 2024. le Pape François a partagé sa peine auprès des familles des victimes de l’attaque terroriste de Barsalogho, a rapporté Vatican News.
Il a exprimé sa « tristesse » suite à cet incident au cours duquel, selon lui, « des centaines de personnes, dont des femmes et des enfants, ont été tuées et de nombreuses autres blessées ».
« En condamnant ces attaques odieuses contre la vie humaine, j’exprime ma sympathie à toute la nation et mes sincères condoléances aux familles des victimes », a expliqué le Saint Père.
Le Pape a demandé que la Vierge Marie « aide le peuple bien-aimé du Burkina Faso à retrouver la paix et la sécurité ».
L’Eglise catholique avait appelé les fidèles croyants à une journée de deuil et de prière, mercredi 28 août 2024, en hommage aux victimes de l’attaque terroriste meurtrière de Barsalogho.
Dans une lettre pastorale datée du 27 août, Monseigneur Théophile Naré, évêque de Kaya, a expliqué que cet appel s’adresse à tous, indépendamment des appartenances religieuses, pour honorer la mémoire des victimes et implorer la paix.
Le samedi 24 août, la localité de Barsalogho a été la cible d’une attaque terroriste, faisant plusieurs victimes civiles et au sein de l’armée et des blessés.
Plusieurs pays ont exprimé leur solidarité au Burkina, réaffirmant leur soutien à ce pays sahélien dans la lutte contre le terrorisme.
