Le premier Forum climat, paix et sécurité dans le Sahel s’est ouvert jeudi à Bamako sous le thème « Renforcer la sécurité climatique au Sahel ».

D’une durée de trois jours, cet événement regroupant des acteurs du climat et de la sécurité a pour objectif d’apporter des réponses en termes de gestion des conflits, d’adaptation et de sensibilisation autour de la problématique du climat.

Il s’agit de joindre les efforts pour « renforcer l’intégration des solutions climatiques dans la politique publique et gouvernementale », a expliqué à l’ouverture des travaux le ministre malien de l’Environnement, de l’Assainissement et du Développement durable, Mamadou Samaké.

Cette rencontre vise également à offrir aux participants « une plateforme de discussions sur la prévention et la gestion des conflits, la gestion durable des ressources naturelles, les mesures d’adaptation aux changements climatiques et les mécanismes de consolidation de la paix et de la cohésion sociale », a-t-il ajouté.

Selon M. Samaké, près de 350 millions de personnes sont confrontées à une crise sécuritaire aggravée par l’impact du changement climatique dans la zone du Sahel.

« Le Sahel en paix, stable et prospère, nous y travaillons ardemment. Et nous sommes prêts à travailler en partenariat avec nos frères des pays voisins, nos amis internationaux et tous ceux qui partagent notre vision à travers notre nouvelle réorientation des relations de coopération, conformément à l’article 34 de la Constitution qui dispose que l’action publique est guidée par les principes fondés sur le respect de la souveraineté de l’Etat, des choix souverains et la défense des intérêts du peuple », a, de son côté, souligné le Premier ministre malien Choguel Kokalla Maïga.
