Le sélectionneur du Mali, Éric Sékou Chelle, était face à la presse ce vendredi, 1er Septembre 2023, pour présenter sa liste des joueurs convoqués pour la 6e journée des éliminatoires de la CAN 2023 et le match amical face à la Côte d’Ivoire. Si, la liste est assez raisonnable, elle contient tout de même une énorme surprise. Il s’agit de la présence de Moussa Djenepo, joueurs très en méforme depuis deux ans et dont le club est désormais relégué en deuxième division du championnat anglais.
Déjà qualifié pour la prochaine édition de la Coupe d’Afrique des Nations prévue en Côte d’Ivoire, le Mali doit affronter tout de même le Soudan du Sud le 8 septembre prochain avant d’affronter la Côte d’Ivoire dans un match amical le 12 septembre 2023.
Pour mieux aborder ces deux rencontres, les Aigles entameront leur regroupement à partir du lundi 4 septembre à l’hôtel de l’Amitié de Bamako, soit trois jours après la publication de la liste. Avant d’affronter les Bright Stars du Soudan du Sud le 8 septembre prochain, les Aigles effectueront des séances d’entraînement sur le terrain et d’analyses vidéos lors des debriefings tout au long de la semaine. Ensuite, Éric Sékou Chelle et ses poulains s’envoleront pour Abidjan où ils affronteront les Éléphants en amical.
