Dans un communiqué, le Gouvernement malien annonce que le 7 septembre 2023, le Bateau « TOMBOUCTOU » et la position des Forces Armées Maliennes (FAMa) de Bamba, dans la Région de Gao, ont fait l’objet d’attaques revendiquées par les terroristes du « Groupe de Soutien à l’islam et aux Musulmans ». « Le bilan provisoire fait état de 49 civils et 15 militaires tués, des blessés, ainsi que des dégâts matériels sur le bateau. En riposte à cette double attaque, une action combinée aéroterrestre de nos vaillantes FAMAs a permis de neutraliser une cinquantaine de terroristes. En outre, des dispositions immédiates ont été prises pour évacuer tous les passagers, les blessés et sécuriser les lieux, qui font toujours l’objet de ratissage et de surveillance », peut-on lire dans ledit Communiqué.
En cette douloureuse circonstance, le Président de transition, Col. Assimi Goita, a décrété un deuil national de trois jours à compter de ce vendredi, 08 septembre 2023, sur toute l’étendue du territoire national.
