En février 2022, le conflit entre la Russie et l’Ukraine s’est intensifié, après des années de tensions croissantes et d’affrontements dans l’est de l’Ukraine. Ce conflit prolongé est marqué par des revendications territoriales et des préoccupations de sécurité de la part de Moscou, entraînant une mobilisation militaire massive des deux côtés. En réponse à cette escalade, l’Ukraine a renforcé sa défense et a bénéficié d’un soutien militaire et économique important de la part de ses alliés occidentaux, accentuant la durée et l’intensité des hostilités.
L’armée ukrainienne a récemment subi une nouvelle perte d’un char Abrams M1A1 dans le secteur d’Avdiivka. Un compte pro-russe a publié sur Telegram une vidéo montrant la destruction de ce char, attribuée à l’efficacité combinée du drone Orlan-30 et du projectile guidé par laser Krasnopol. Ce type de munition, développé par la Russie, est réputé pour sa haute précision contre des cibles fixes et mobiles, causant des dommages significatifs.
La perte de ce char Abrams a eu lieu dans une zone où les forces russes ont réussi à percer les lignes ukrainiennes, notamment près de la ville d’Ocheretyne. Les Abrams, principalement utilisés par la 47e brigade mécanisée de l’armée ukrainienne, ont subi des pertes importantes depuis leur déploiement en février. En effet, l’Ukraine a perdu un quart de ses chars Abrams, soulignant la rareté de ces véhicules par rapport aux milliers disponibles dans l’arsenal américain.
Face à cette situation critique, les forces russes ont intensifié leurs attaques autour de Kharkiv, profitant de leur supériorité numérique. Cette offensive, bien que prévisible, a provoqué des tensions au sein des forces ukrainiennes en raison de l’absence de fortifications adéquates et de mesures défensives suffisantes. Des militaires ukrainiens sur le terrain ont exprimé leur frustration face à cette impréparation, soulignant le manque de moyens pour contrer l’avancée russe.
La situation à Vovtchansk, au nord-est de Kharkiv, demeure critique avec des combats en cours et des tentatives d’encerclement par les forces russes. Les évacuations de civils se sont intensifiées, beaucoup étant surpris par l’ampleur de l’offensive. Les forces russes utilisent une large gamme d’armements, rendant la situation particulièrement difficile pour les défenseurs ukrainiens.
Le commandement ukrainien a reconnu les « succès tactiques » russes dans la région de Kharkiv, où Moscou a déployé jusqu’à cinq bataillons. Les évacuations se poursuivent, avec de nombreuses personnes âgées parmi les déplacés. Les bombardements incessants et les attaques de drones ont rendu la situation intenable pour les civils restants, obligeant les autorités locales à organiser des évacuations d’urgence pour les habitants encore présents.
