Le président tchadien Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, a rencontré, dimanche à Niamey, les dirigeants du Conseil National de Sauvegarde de la Patrie (CNSP), dont le Général Abdourahamane Tchiani, ainsi que le Président Mohamed Bazoum, toujours détenu par les putschistes depuis mercredi.

Le président tchadien de la transition a par ailleurs publié sur ses réseaux sociaux, plusieurs photos, dont l’une où il est accompagné de Mohamed Bazoum, qui apparaît donc pour la première fois depuis le coup d’Etat.

“À Niamey, j’ai eu des échanges approfondis avec les leaders du Conseil National de Sauvegarde de la Patrie (CNSP), notamment le Général Abdourahamane Tchiani, avec le Président Mohamed Bazoum, ainsi que l’ancien Président Mahamadou Issoufou, dans une approche fraternelle qui vise à explorer toutes les pistes afin de trouver une issue pacifique à la crise qui secoue ce pays voisin”, a déclaré Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno dans une publication en ligne dans la nuit de dimanche à lundi.

Il précise que ce passage au Niger s’est effectué après “un séjour éclair de consultation à Abuja au Nigeria sur l’invitation du président Nigérian, Président en exercice de la CEDEAO (Communauté économique des États de l’Afrique de l’Ouest)”.

Plus tôt dans la journée de dimanche, la CEDEAO, réunie en session extraordinaire à Abuja, a lancé un ultimatum laissant semaine aux militaires au pouvoir au Niger afin de libérer et restaurer le président déchu Mohamed Bazoum dans ses fonctions.

Considérant que “le président Mohamed Bazoum est le seul et unique président légitime du Niger”, la CEDEAO a ordonné aux militaires de le libérer et le restaurer dans ses fonctions “dans un délai de sept jours”, et prévient qu’elle pourrait recourir à tout type de mesures “y compris l’usage de la force” au cas où ils ne s’exécuteraient pas.

Pour rappel, le CNSP (conseil national pour la sauvegarde de la patrie), a annoncé dans la nuit de mercredi à jeudi, avoir pris le pouvoir et avoir mis fin aux fonctions du Président Mohamed Bazoum, avant que l’Etat-Major des Armées ne fasse savoir, par voie de communiqué, dès jeudi, qu’il se ralliait aux militaires à l’origine du putsch.
