Le 16 septembre 2023, l’équipe de Ségou a battu celle de Bamako à la finale de la Super Coupe Assimi Goïta au Stade Diarra H de Koulikoro. Ainsi, Ségou remporte le trophée de cette 3e édition de la Super Coupe Assimi Goïta.
Au regard du déroulé du match, rares sont ceux qui donnaient Ségou gagnant, tant la domination de l’équipe Bamakoise était franche. Pour autant, une équipe ségovienne engagée, déterminée et qui ne s’est jamais sentie vaincue, malgré les assauts successifs de son adversaire.
Finalement, il a fallu l’épreuve des tirs au but pour départager les deux équipes, finalistes de cette 3e édition de la Super Coupe Assimi Goïta, tenue cette année dans la capitale du Méguétan. Ainsi, c’est Ségou qui s’est imposé dans les séances de tirs au but.
Le lendemain de ce sacre, le maire de la commune urbaine de Ségou, Nouhoum Diarra, et les populations ségoviennes ont accueilli les vainqueurs en héros qui ont fièrement représenté la cité des Balanzans à Koulikoro.
