Le Président déchu du Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba, est “libre de ses mouvements” et “peut se rendre” à l’étranger pour raisons médicales, a annoncé mercredi le général Brice Oligui Nguema qui l’a renversé il y a une semaine.
M. Bongo, 64 ans, au pouvoir depuis 14 ans, était en résidence surveillée depuis la prise du pouvoir par les militaires, mené sans effusion de sang moins d’une heure après que son camp eut proclamé sa réélection dans un scrutin qualifié de frauduleux par les putschistes.
Le pouvoir du général Oligui, proclamé Président de transition, accuse aussi l’entourage familial, notamment son épouse et l’un de ses fils tous deux en détention, ainsi que des membres de son cabinet, d’avoir détourné “massivement des deniers publics” et dirigé le pays de “manière irresponsable et imprévisible” en manipulant un Ali Bongo affaibli par un grave AVC en 2018.
“Compte tenu de son état de santé, l’ancien président de la République Ali Bongo Ondimba est libre de ses mouvements. Il peut, s’il le souhaite, se rendre à l’étranger afin d’y effectuer ses contrôles médicaux”, ont annoncé les militaires dans un communiqué, lu à la télévision publique, du général Oligui, qui avait mené le putsch.
M.Bongo a été montré quelques minutes plus tard par la télévision publique recevant à son domicile Abdou Abarry, représentant spécial en Afrique centrale du secrétaire général de l’Onu. On le voit souriant et se déplaçant toujours difficilement depuis son AVC, mais sans sa canne habituelle.
